Emission reductions
GasID
The certificate of emission reductions.

Each GasID records a certified quantity of greenhouse gas emission reductions, in tonnes of CO₂e, and its source MassID.
This contract issues GasID certificates and makes them available for lookup on the Carrot network.
What a GasID records.
The certified outcome and the information needed to trace its origin.
- Reductions
- The certified quantity of emission reductions, in tonnes of CO₂e.
- Verification
- The methodology applied to verify and quantify the outcome.
- Origin
- The MassID of the batch backing the certificate, with its material, mass and journey.
CO₂e is the unit used to express different greenhouse gases in a common measure.
From batch to receipts.
Under BOLD Carbon (CH₄), MassID verification leads to a GasID and the corresponding issuance of C-CARB.CH4 credits.
Does one certificate equal one credit?
No. A GasID records the certified outcome of one MassID. The amount of C-CARB.CH4 issued matches that outcome and may include fractions.

Can a GasID be revoked?
Yes, if the data underlying the outcome is invalidated. Revocation is blocked when credits from that certificate have already been sold. Revoking a certificate does not automatically revoke its MassID or other certificates from the batch. The history remains available for inspection.
