The climate result
Composting changes the emissions outcome.
The calculation compares landfill disposal with composting treatment and includes emissions from the treatment process itself.
Baseline
Material sent to landfill
Decomposition without oxygen generates methane. The reference scenario estimates those emissions.
Project activity
Material composted
Aerobic treatment prevents methane from forming. Its emissions are included in the calculation.
Verified emission reductions
Result expressed in CO₂ equivalent.
The reduction depends on the material, evidence and applicable parameters. There is no single conversion from tonnes of Biowaste to carbon credits.
Verification criteria
What needs to be proven.
Evidence about the material and the operation is checked before the result can be certified.

Biowaste type, origin, mass and movement recorded in the MassID.
Participants and facility
Required actors, facility accreditation and valid documentation.
Operation evidence
Weighing, sorting, transport, drop-off and composting events.
Location and project boundaries
Locations and project boundaries are checked against the framework.
Emission calculation
Landfill baseline and composting emissions are calculated under the published parameters.
Duplicates and conflicts
Uniqueness and collision rules prevent double counting or conflicting issuance.
How rules are applied
From methodology to verification.
The scientific basis, specification and executable application have different roles.
01
Scientific basis
AMS-III.F
Defines the reference methodology for reducing methane emissions through composting.
02
Verification framework · MvF
BOLD Carbon (CH₄)
Translates that basis into verification criteria, evidence and parameters.
03
Executable application · MvA
Rules in execution
Open-source code applies the published criteria to each record's evidence.
Independent assurance
Review by auditors and validation and verification bodies is recorded separately, when available. Automated checks do not constitute that assurance.
Published result
From evidence to certificate.
The GasID records the verified reduction. This result corresponds to an amount of C-CARB.CH4.
